The Project

Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics were invited to tender for the exciting transformation of the old Northgate House building into the new Cheng Yu Tung building, which is part of Jesus College in Oxford. The project is the largest transformation of Jesus College since the 17th century.

Located in the heart of Oxford, the building is undergoing major refurbishment, and the architect approached us about providing our Class A Rockfon Mono Acoustic to numerous areas of the building. The project includes new educational and recreational spaces for its students along with student accommodation.

The Solution

After providing our tender to AT Jones, Pacy & Wheatley were selected to install 304m2 of Rockfon Mono Acoustic in various areas of the Cheng Yu Tung building.

The installation took place in various areas across the building, from the digital hubs in the basement to the café on the third floor. This shows how versatile Rockfon Mono Acoustic is and how it can be adapted and used in all kinds of environments. Rockfon Mono Acoustic provides a high level of acoustic control, and it is great for absorbing unwanted white noise and controlling reverberation, making it perfect for working areas and relaxation areas.

The Cheng Yu Tung building recently won project of the year at the OxPropFest Awards in September 2023. The awards show showcases the County's best new building developments across numerous categories, and the winners are then selected from a panel of experts from within the field. The Cheng Yu Tung building can also boast that it is the first all-electric building located in Oxford.
