The Project

Pacy & Wheatley have recently completed the installation of a Rockfon Acoustic Mono system for Leicester FC. The 185-acre, state of the art sports training facility is located in Seagrave, Leicestershire and was designed by KSS Architects who are world-leading specialists in designing sports venues and training centres.

The site required the installation of the Rockfon Mono system to various spaces including, the hydrotherapy pool area, changing rooms and the Owners Suite. The system was chosen for its exceptional sound control and ability to deliver an aesthetically pleasing, smooth and seamless finish.

Rockfon Case Study Samsung London

The Project

We were contacted by our client’s design team, KSS Architects and Portview, to install a Rockfon Mono Acoustic plaster solution for the new King’s Cross Samsung Experience Centre in London.

The Samsung King’s Cross is not a shop, but an experience space designed to give guests the ultimate immersive brand experience. Samsung KX is a space where people are invited to discover, interact with and learn new skills in a dynamic, innovative environment, so the acoustics had to be perfect.

We attended a design meeting, alongside Rockfon, to discuss the project in more detail and to show that Rockfon was the best product for this project. We decided to use Rockfon and proceeded to discuss how to install this product.

Specialist Acoustic Plaster System, Knightsbridge

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley have recently completed the installation of a specialist acoustic plaster system for the Pavilion Company located in the heart of Knightsbridge. They are a high profile members club and fine dining restaurant, the company has further locations around central London. The building is located next to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, another location that Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics has worked on.

Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics were invited to meet and discuss the project at 64 Knightsbridge where they were undergoing a high specification refurbishment.

The building required fine details and wanted to ensure that the design for the areas in the basement and first floor achieved acoustic comfort and integrated acoustic absorption in order to remove any unwanted reverberation to ensure comfort.

Leisure Acoustic Ceiling Installation Birmingham

The Project

Wates Construction Ltd. has been appointed as the main contractor to build the exciting new Sandwell Aquatic Centre, which was part of the Commonwealth Games in 2022. The project includes:

  • A 50m Olympic-sized swimming pool.
  • A 25m diving pool.
  • Another community pool.
  • Seating for up to 1,000 people.

The project began in September 2019 and will become open to the public in 2023 as a state-of-the-art community leisure centre.

Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics were invited to tender as the need for acoustic absorption was extremely high. It is essential in swimming pools that there is a short reverberation time and minimal echo to ensure speech intelligibility and safety in the event of public announcements. It lets people swim leisurely and enjoy their time there without loud noises. The Fade Acoustic System is imperative in providing peaceful surroundings for all visitors.

Acoustic Plaster Victoria Gate, Leeds

The Project

SCS North contacted Pacy and Wheatley to help with the design and delivery of an acoustic plaster solution, to manage the new shopping centres acoustic reverberation issues. The new shopping centre within the Victoria Quarter in Leeds, where numerous top brand fashion designers and shops will be residents, was being constructed joining onto the brand new John Lewis store. The requirement was for a class A solution to ensure the arcade had the ambient comfort and feeling of relaxation through the shopping experience.

The Solution

Pacy and Wheatley were asked for a class A solution to the walls of the arcade malls which curves around the contours of the design. Whilst having central areas with bullnose curved features around glazed areas, this involved special panels with relief cuts to the rear to form the curves around the substrates. The complex design of the walls had many areas that required detailing. Reverberation was reduced to a good level and an acoustically healthy environment for all users of the mall whether dinning or shopping for those top brands, all in all a comfortable environment has been created as well as stunning architecture. Complex dimple areas to the south mall were very complex however overcome by the team working with SCS and SRM. The project was completed on time and to budget for the client and he has offered comments below in a testimonial.

Rockfon Mono Acoustic Plaster Oxford

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics have completed a Rockfon Mono Acoustic Plaster installation in Oxford. St Johns College in central Oxford has had a new library building created to a state of the art standard to inspire scholars and students for present and many years to come. The college has many manuscripts and special collections of printed books which have been bequeathed to the college since foundation and now shall be accessible to scholars students and public, Library spaces instantly benefit from reduced reverberation and sound attenuation control and creating the acoustical comfort for the students and the like to enjoy these treasures.

Sprayed Acoustic Coating, London

The Project

Microsoft Experience Centre in Oxford Street, London, is receiving a refurbishment. Within these works, the designers noted that they may require sound reverberation control to the flagship office space and experience centre, where you can view and utilize the most modern computer and software items in its prestigious location on the southwest corner of Oxford street. Pacy and Wheatley provided this experience centre with high-quality sprayed acoustic coating.

The Solution

Pacy and Wheatley worked with Overbury to install the special coloured Bowiq product Bo-spray to areas within the offices to control the reverberation and echo within the spaces to ensure speech intelligibility, 25mm of the system which gives a class C absorption controlling the spaces.

Mono Acoustic Plaster System, Croydon

The Project

Fairfield Halls has reopened following a 2.5-year multi-million-pound refurbishment which has restored the iconic Croydon building to its former glory. Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics were asked to install a Rockfon Mono acoustic plaster system throughout the facility.

The gallery used previously for BBC television orchestral recordings and radio transmission as well as big names like the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Queen to name a few Quality acoustic and reverberation control is vital for coherent performances absorbing unwanted noise ensuring customers enjoy each performance to its maximum, creating the perfect ambience for the shows and the pre show environment within bars and sun lounge relaxation area.

Rockfon Mono Acoustics, Southampton FC

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley were contacted by ITS Interiors to install a Rockfon Mono acoustic plaster system to Southampton FC’s dressing room. “The Saints’” changing rooms was undergoing renovation to update the layout and design, so we were asked to ensure the environment was acoustically healthy. Our team were asked to make sure the surroundings had sound acoustics, to allow relaxation and complete focus for the premiership players to enjoy.

Specialist Acoustic Plaster Hereford

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley have recently completed the installation of a specialist acoustic plaster system at Hay Castle in Hay-On-Wye, Hereford. Hay Castle was originally built in approx. the 12th Century then extended in the 17th century in the small town of Hay-on-Wye in Wales. The castle has been undergoing renovations for the last decade to restore it, and it is now fully open to the public for the first time since it was built.

The large rooms and high ceilings meant the client had a requirement for an acoustic solution to manage reverberation and improve the ambience within the castle. Pacy & Wheatley were invited to tender to install 138m2 of our Class A Rockfon Mono Acoustic System to the ceilings in the west and east mansion.
