A flagship office was the requirement in this sought-after area in Central London.

Staff comfort and working environment were a big requirement for the company. Providing high-class finishes and surrounding that controlled acoustics whilst maintaining aesthetics was also very important and within the design brief.

Specialist Acoustic Plaster Contractors in Granta Park, Cambridge

The Project

Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics, Acoustic Plaster contractors, completed an exciting project for Granta Park, a biopharmaceutical science and technology park based in Great Abington near Cambridge; beautifully located on the bank of the River Granta. This new office building constructed by SDC was a large office building with a large atrium to the top which brought in fantastic light to the building. However, it obviously comes with a hidden downside and that a lot of reverberation problems can occur in these spaces making it uncomfortable for the people utilising it.

The Solution

Pacy and Wheatley supplied a quotation to install our Rockfon Mono acoustic product which offers a class A absorption class and was perfect for the project. The system was installed to high wall areas within the atrium and required expansion joints to follow that of the building and to suit the system. Within the discussion due to SDC being the main contractor and a different contractor was coming in to fit out the unit we helped design a detail that the interior fit out guys could abut the area without damaging the product. Another 1st class installation and a happy client and Acoustic reverberation problem solved. The project was completed on time and to budget for the client.

Rockfon Mono Acoustic Installations, London

Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics were delighted to have been awarded and completed two Rockfon Mono Acoustic installations for offices in London and West Yorkshire. Our team have worked on many previous projects with Rockfon Mono Acoustic and installed the ceilings in both offices. We worked in the refurbished offices of Max Fordham building services engineers and A+DP Architects to create unique acoustic ceiling designs.

Max Fordham

Max Fordham is a successful, London-based building engineering company, so they know a thing or two about achieving excellent acoustic solutions in office environments. As part of their office refit, they chose the monolithic Rockfon Mono Acoustic ceiling for the meeting room and relaxation areas.

“We were looking for a smooth, white seamless ceiling which could provide as much sound absorption as possible,” Senior Partner Dr Anthony Chilton explains. “We hold regular social events when our communal areas are packed with people. Before the installation, it was difficult to make yourself understood without shouting above the din. The new ceiling has reduced the noise levels and created comfortable spaces.”

A+DP Architects

A+DP Architects in West Yorkshire have been delivering bespoke architectural designs for over 40 years. Founder Russel Earnshaw specified a Rockfon Mono Acoustic installation for their office reception and meeting room.

“The new ceiling has made a noticeable difference to the level of reverberation, particularly in the reception area. We are very impressed with the finished result, particularly the seamless integration of the light fittings and services.”

The ceilings in A+DP’s office required a bespoke solution in order to create the clean lines around the architectural features. An acoustic raft was fitted in each of the two areas, finished with TE render. This combination lead to a uniform and regular spread of light in the reception and meeting areas.

The Solution

As always, it was a pleasure to work with Rockfon Mono Acoustic. Both projects look fantastic – the Max Fordham Project ran smoothly and was completed to the client’s requirements, while the integrated lighting systems in the A+DP Architects really look great.

We achieved a high standard of finish in both offices and the clients are extremely pleased.

Our aim was to provide Blain Southern with acoustically pleasing and comfortable environment in which they could display there award winning contemporary art work.

The Solution

Caruso St John together with Knight Harwood contacted Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics to discuss the various options in which the clients requirements could be achieved however whilst providing the necessary reverberation control. Pacy & Wheatley offered various options and it was decided to adopt our Ambient basecoat acoustic plaster system. This would provide the desired finish and thickness of material which was crucial to the design. Despite this basecoat system being a more traditional method of application, Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics completed successfully to a very tight schedule imposed onto us by knight harwood which with our can do attitude delivered on time and to budget to which all parties were delighted with the appearance and more importantly the performance.

Acoustic Plaster Solution | Arup Head Office, Fitzrovia, London

The Project

The Terraco Acoustic Plaster system installed into Arup’s new head office building began construction on Fitzroy Street London. With a very attractive atrium spanning seven floors, basement upwards, coupled with a minimalistic look and a full height decorative glass panel to one elevation, the chance of ambient noise leaking onto each floor required an acoustic solution. The specified monolithic appearance with good sound absorption characteristics founded the acoustic specification for the atrium.

The Solution

Sheppard Robson contacted Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics to consult together with Laing o Rouke, thereafter Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics were commissioned to provide and install their Monolithic Terraco 32mm Acoustic Plaster System to each floor around the atrium. The acoustical product would reduce and remove significant volumes of echo resonating within the atrium. Successfully installed and tested, the minimalistic modern aesthetics created a functional and acoustically comfortable surrounding for both personnel and visitors. Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics completed the project on time and within budget

Their appointed architect considered that there may be a need to incorporate noise control in the form of a sound absorption (insulation) products.
