Specialist Acoustic Plaster System, Jersey

The Project

Pacy and Wheatley were appointed to a fantastic project on the island of Jersey. We were required to carry out specialist acoustic works in the swimming pool ceiling and the cinema room in order to control the reverberation and sound within the spaces.

We also installed several twinkle lights to the swimming pool’s ceiling which has a coffered design. The pool room converts into a ball-room with an electronic floor which covers the entire area, transforming the pool into a party venue.

The Cinema room has a 3-tier ceiling with special coloured render and required some acoustic absorption to remove any unwanted reverberation.

Swimming Pool Acoustic Plaster

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics have successfully delivered the new Acoustic Plaster installation to the swimming pool hall refurbishment at the Norwich High School for Girls.

Swimming pools are notorious for reverberation and echo, but noise, sound insulation and absorption can be solved with acoustic solutions at the time of construction, or applied retrospectively.

The Solution

Our team installed the Class-A Rockfon Mono acoustic solution to an MF grid to the entire area of the swimming pool hall ceiling. The product utilised is perfect for the project, creating a lot of absorption, ensuring any unwanted ambient noise and reverberation is minimised to control sound levels in the space.

The project was delivered on time and on budget for an effective, Class-A acoustic solution.

Swimming Pool, King’s Road, Chelsea

The Project

A private clients dwelling, located Kings Road, Chelsea, made the decision to install a new swimming pool and spa together with a general refurbishment of the existing house designed by Architects Timothy Hatton. Swimming pools are notorious for producing very high ambient noise levels, echo and reverberation, compound by high ceilings, stone surrounds, rendered walls and an overall hard surface throughout.

The Solution

Pacy and Wheatley were commissioned to supply and install 32mm Ambient Acoustic Plaster System to control the noise reverberation within the pool and spa areas with the objective of achieving a calming atmosphere for pool and spa users to enjoy. The aesthetically pleasing acoustic plaster offers a very clean line to the ceiling area. This project uses our lightly textured product and contains pigmentation. Any pastel colour can be added to the plaster during application. Works were completed on time and within budget and on budget with full liaison throughout the process with both client and there representatives.

Swimming Pool, St John’s Wood, London

The Project

Designed by Timothy Hatton an extensive refurbishment of this wonderful property in North London included a swimming pool and gymnasium, both requiring significant noise insulation within a sunken garden. The swimming pools minimalistic design and its feature lighting to the perimeter set a level of modernity not to be compromised by the noise reverberation. The pool area would also encompass an exceptional sound system to be engineered within the acoustic reverberation solution, exacerbating the potential echoic swimming pool area.

The Solution

The Architect Timothy Hatton together with main contractors Holloway White Allom consulted with Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics to design in to the project their Ambient Acoustic Plaster System for its absorption qualities to reduce reverberation to the swimming pool area. The integration of air conditioning grills, concealed LED light fittings and cloaked sound system into the monolithic appearance presented further challenges. Our ambient acoustic plaster which is acrylic based achieved every design and acoustical challenge. The project was delivered on time and to budget.

Specialist Acoustic Plaster, Stoke

The Project

Specialist Acoustic Plaster Contractors, Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics, have completed a brand new Ambient Acoustic Plaster system for a swimming pool at a country lodge in Stoke. The country lodge, based at an extremely private setting, is a dated, characterful building, which was being refurbished to a high standard. As part of the buildings renovations, the swimming pool area required reverberation control to improve the acoustics of the area.

The Solution

We were asked to install our Ambient Acoustic Solution, which was specified by the architects, to create a reduction in the reverberation time and ensuring comfort within the space was achieved. The project was a coffered ceiling, creating numerous sunken panels, and encompassed speakers and lights. Once the project was completed, the acoustics accentuated the integrated speakers to coincide with the atmosphere created by the sunken lighting. The client was extremely pleased with the outcome, the project ran to schedule and was completed on time, and completed within the client’s budget.

Bvlgari Hotel, Knightsbridge-London

The Project

In the heart of busy Knightsbridge, London, an exciting new luxury hotel by Bvlgari is being constructed by Sir Robert McAlpine. Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics were commissioned to provide a Seamless Acoustic Solution to the 350m2 ceiling area in the swimming pool and spa areas of lower Basement Five.

Swimming pools are notorious for reverberation and echo, but noise, sound insulation and absorption can be solved with acoustic solutions at the time of construction, or applied retrospectively.

A number of acoustic samples were uniquely formed in six different colours for the Italian designers; a light texture finish was chosen. Subsequent to the finish we were to form the ceiling around seven GRP integrated columns, housing feature lighting, public address and sprinkler systems.

The Solution

Programming the intricate contract on “CS Project”; allocating men and plant to allow sufficient plant and contractors to operate simultaneously. The delayed column installation was overcome successfully with flexible working and very cooperative team work. Water leaks added time to the programme, but delays were minimised due to full and continuous discussions with the clients. Drying of the area was accomplished with air movement fans and dehumidifiers following regular checks of temperature and humidity. The final coat of the ceiling was carried out in a single application to ensure a continuous even texture. Considering the complexity of the contract we were delighted that we achieved zero defects.
