The Project

Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics have completed a specialist Acoustic Plaster project in Queens Square, London. A refurbishment of one of the buildings owned and utilised by the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience who study mental processes in the human brain in health and disease. The building being refurbished required a surface finish to control reverberation and echo within a new lecture room and ensure the clarity of the lecturers speech was fully received by the audience.

The Solution

The project was 2 small areas that required an acoustic solution that ensured the speech and the comfort of the room; the difficulty was that the room is L shaped.

The chosen product Rockfon Mono acoustic was offered and subsequently installed as direct fixed islands with edge details, this was due to low ceiling height and services which restricted the height of installation. The area now benefits from superior sound and reverberation control and first class finish ensuring the lecture room is aesthetically pleasing with its new seamless acoustic system. The project was completed on time and on budget.
