The Project
Pacy & Wheatley have recently completed the installation of a specialist acoustic plaster system at Hay Castle in Hay-On-Wye, Hereford. Hay Castle was originally built in approx. the 12th Century then extended in the 17th century in the small town of Hay-on-Wye in Wales. The castle has been undergoing renovations for the last decade to restore it, and it is now fully open to the public for the first time since it was built.
The large rooms and high ceilings meant the client had a requirement for an acoustic solution to manage reverberation and improve the ambience within the castle. Pacy & Wheatley were invited to tender to install 138m2 of our Class A Rockfon Mono Acoustic System to the ceilings in the west and east mansion.

The Solution
Pacy & Wheatley were successful and began works in the castle, installing 61m2 in the West Mansion and 77m2 in the East Mansion. We worked together with John Weaver Contractors to complete the renovations on the castle, installing the seamless finish acoustic plaster system to the various areas. This created the ambience they hoped for by absorbing white noise and controlling reverberations.
Some challenges did arise due to the site conditions being too cold as we require warm temperatures for our product to dry once filled and sprayed. We managed to overcome this and completed the project in a professional and timely manner.
