The Project
Kier Construction asked Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics to tender for installing a specialist acoustic ceiling at Crawley Civic Centre. The building, which is made up of nine stories, will include a new council chamber, a customer service centre, meeting rooms, break-out spaces, and an area for the public.
The façade was designed to minimise heat loss in the winter and minimise overheating and glare in the summer, which helps with sustainability and reduces costs. There was also a design concern regarding acoustic comfort in a number of areas, including a large meeting room, Atrium and open spaces, which Rockfon Mono perfectly fitted and, as Class A absorption, would fit the criteria required by the Acoustician.

The Challenge
Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics supplied and installed 826m2 of Rockfon Mono Acoustic in numerous areas of the Civic Centre, including the reception area, CSC waiting area, first-floor council chamber, and large Atrium.
Rockfon Mono Acoustic was the chosen product as it provides a seamless acoustic solution to manage reverberation and provide acoustic comfort without sacrificing the aesthetics of the building fabric. Within the project, the integration of Gyproc perforated plasterboard sections required design and edge details to make this work, which was achieved; the many grills and special light features were also integrated.
The Pacy & Wheatley acoustic team delivered a flawless installation and were very happy to be part of such a great project.
