Mates in Mind are a charity raising awareness, addressing the stigma of poor mental health, and improving mental wellbeing within the UK construction industry. A huge part of our company philosophy is looking after the health and wellbeing of our team. This initiative helps us take an important step towards breaking the silence and stigma surrounding mental wellbeing in society, and in the construction industry in particular.
We’re delighted to be part of such a great cause, and proud to be taking steps to improve awareness and mental health and wellbeing within our company.

A Pacy and Wheatley team lead by the MD Anthony Wheatley took part in the Doncaster Dragonboat Race on 15th July to raise money for the very worthy Bluebell Wood Hospice. The team and supporters on the day comprised of P&W employees, family members and friends.
It was a dismal start to the day (weather wise) but the team embraced the challenge and achieved their objectives of working as a team, enjoying the day and not getting wet (for the most part anyway). The team worked hard and the results were better than anticipated:
Overall, we came 12th out of 28 teams (just missing out on a place in the semi-finals) (1st place time 67.46 seconds) even the sun came out later in the day. We consider this to be a fantastic achievement for our first time taking part in this event. We have already booked our place in the event next year, our target shall be to make the semi-finals.
Most importantly we smashed our target of raising £500 for Bluebell Wood (achieved £761.50 + gift). A big THANK YOU to our team, our supporters and our sponsors.
The Wheatley Wizards are a small team formed by Pacy & Wheatley Construction. We will be taking part in the Dragon Boat Race, in Doncaster Lakeside on Saturday 15th July 2017. This event will be a fundraiser to raise money for our chosen charity, The Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, who we have previously supported when we completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.
We believe this to be a very worthy cause and our assistance can bring joy and respite to the patients and their families. As a team, we aim to raise £500 and are looking forward to supporting the event and all of the other teams who will be also raising money for a very worthy cause.

A total of £4,081.93 has been raised, to which 25% Gift Aid will be added; which totals more than £922.23 extra in fundraising for Bluebell Wood. Mandy, a Corporate Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, took us on a short tour of the building and we were introduced to some of the Care Team members, who work on a daily basis with children and young adults with life shortening conditions and complex medical needs.
Bluebell Wood has a very calming, friendly and fun-filled environment that gives children, along with their families and siblings, time to spend together at the toughest of times. The charity, which has to raise more than £3m a year to keep its doors open, is there to provide special memories for families. The building also has two end of life suites for families to stay together when their child has passed away. It made us realise the enormity of the task the Bluebell Wood undertakes each day. Mandy expressed her thanks on behalf of the children, their families, Bluebell Wood staff and volunteers for the efforts of each of the members of the 3 Peaks Challenge Team and to all of those who sponsored them. Again well done to ALL.
To raise money for Bluebell Wood who provide care, respite & support to poorly children & their family and as a fun but challenging way for P&W staff and family to work as a team outside of our daily work lives. A total of 17 victims completed the challenge including a site engineer, accounts manager, project surveyors, labourer, chairman, cleaner, directors & site managers along with their family. The 25 mile walk comprised of the ascent and descent of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks from Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and last but certainly not least Ingleborough. We left Doncaster in a bus provided by P&W at 4am to arrive and start the walk at 7am. After a break for lunch we then tackled the last peak. P&W provided accommodation, food & drinks for all our fund raising. In return our team have so far raised over £5000 for Bluebell Wood with the total still rising.
Pacy and Wheatley were proud to be associated with the local club, Doncaster Rovers, offering sponsorship for a winning team. We were pleased to be chosen for the original fit of the Gymnasium and Leisure Complex and the Keepmoat Stadium continues to provide excellent facilities for corporate entertainment.
Pacy and Wheatley supported the Doncaster Knights Rugby Football Club who, at the time, played in National Division One, having won promotion to that level in April 2005. That promotion was the eighth in fifteen seasons of league rugby, a unique achievement in English rugby. The club are based at Castle Park, off Armthorpe Road in Doncaster.
Pacy and Wheatley sponsored the "Sail Training School" at Beaver Sailing club in West Yorkshire. Beaver has always been a pro active training provider for young people and we are especially pleased to be a partner in that. Our commitment assisted the club in the delivery of training for junior sailors across a wide ranging schedule. This included safety on the water, basic boat handling and honing youngsters for racing. The club's record with producing world class racing talent is excellent, so are we looking at future Olympic sailors in the making?
Pacy and Wheatley maintained an active programme of charitable support and sponsored various projects in the local community. We sponsored the Doncaster Wheelers for a number of years. David Wheatley is an active member of the club which was formed in March 1926 with three founding members. In the present day the Doncaster Wheelers have a plentiful membership.
