Acoustic Ceiling Installation, Oxford
Posted on 3 October 2023
Pacy & Wheatley is pleased to announce its input into yet another high-profile project, this time at Jesus College, Oxford. The university wanted us to install our advanced Class A Rockfon Mono Acoustic plaster in various interior spaces in the new Cheng Yu Tung building, formerly the Northgate House building. Project managers needed the renovation to offer a combination of interior style and acoustic control.
The main challenge was incorporating acoustic control in diverse areas of the building. Jesus College required the application of plaster from the basement to the third-floor café and other parts of the building. This requirement necessitated a highly versatile type of soundproofing that wouldn't interfere with the desired aesthetics.
Fortunately, Rockfon Mono Acoustic plaster offered the required solution. It is adaptable to multiple environments and highly proficient in reducing unwanted white noise and controlling reverberations compared to regular plasterboard and conventional structural materials. With this material, Jesus College could create a stunning environment with quiet spaces for students to work intermixed with group areas.
Ultimately, the Cheng Yu Tung building won Project of the Year at the OxPropFest Awards in September 2023. Critics rated it as among the county's best developments across multiple categories. Pacy & Wheatley is proud to have contributed to such a fine building.
