Ambient Acoustics at Blake Tower

The landmark Barbican estate in London is characterised by its Brutalist concrete architecture. Built following the Second World War to restore an area of London that suffered heavy damage in the Blitz, Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics completed a Specialist Acoustic Plaster project in Blake Tower, Barbican.
Previously a YMCA building, Blake Tower has been developed into 74 luxury apartments and penthouses. To ensure our clients, and potential property owners at Blake Tower, experience the Marketing Suite in peaceful, comfortable surroundings, we installed Acoustic Plaster sound and reverberation control.
At Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics, we were employed to install our Ambient Acoustic Plaster system. This helps create a comfortable atmosphere, increasing intelligibility of speech and the listening experience for potential customers and property owners in the Marketing Suite of Blake Tower.
As with all our contracts, our work on Blake Tower was executed with great pride, incorporating our willingness to work and build relationships with other contractors. Edgewater Contracts were great to work with, and we built a fantastic working relationship throughout the project.
Charlie Henderson, project manager, described Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics as, "A very good team who worked very hard under difficult circumstances." He went on to say that our team were "A pleasure to work with and would recommend future works for ourselves and other contractors, Thank you."
We were extremely pleased with the results of the Specialist Acoustic Plaster project in Barbican. The Marketing Suite now benefits from low reverberation and sound control, while still looking great. The minimalistic designs look fantastic without sacrificing acoustical comfort.
