Leisure Acoustic Ceiling Installation Birmingham Aquatics
Posted on 26 October 2023
Acoustic ceilings offer a range of benefits, from improved sound quality to enhanced aesthetics, which is why they are so essential in leisure settings. The right acoustics in a leisure setting are pivotal, which is why Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics were the perfect partners to help with the new Sandwell Aquatic Centre.
The centre boasts several features, including a 50-metre Olympic-sized swimming pool used in the 2022 Commonwealth Games and seating for up to 1,000 people. The main contractors, Wates Construction Ltd., were invited to bring the location up to speed, which involved Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics installing the works in two key phases. In 2021, coloured works on the wall behind the diving boards started, with a sizable blue fade acoustic plaster section, ready for the Commonwealth Games in the summer of 2022.
After the games, the stand seating was removed in favour of large open spaces, and the pool hall side was treated with Fade acoustic plaster in beige and cream to complement the overall aesthetic with both phases involving 1600 metre-squared of fade acoustic plaster within the pool hall to create high acoustic absorption.
