Rockfon Acoustic Installation for Samsung King’s Cross Store

Pacy & Wheatley are delighted to have recently completed a custom Rockfon Mono acoustic installation at the Samsung King's Cross building. We were approached by KSS Architects and Portview to install acoustic plaster to absorb excess sound and reduce reverberation in the brand-new space.
The Samsung King's Cross is not a shop, but an experience space designed to give guests the ultimate immersive brand experience. Samsung KX is a space where people are invited to discover, interact with and learn new skills in a dynamic, innovative environment. The space hosts a programme of workshops, debates and projects aimed at giving the next generation of innovators a head-start in the fast-paced world of technology. It's a place for exploring anything from art and fashion to gaming and science, so the building's acoustics had to be perfect.
A design meeting was held to discuss the project in detail, in which we presented Rockfon Mono acoustic plaster and why it was best for this project. This type of plaster offers seamless acoustic ceiling and wall lining without the need for traditional grid panelling. Clients no longer need to choose between optimised acoustics and clean aesthetics, as Rockfon Mono plaster provides both.
With detailed planning and close cooperation with Hoare Lea engineers, we installed the acoustic plaster to the curved troughs using plywood formers. Our team installed plasterboard and beading to form curves and sprayed the plaster with Rockfon Mono elegant render, in white. This complex process required specialist installation techniques, which our team completed safely and efficiently from MEWPs (Mobile Elevated Working Platforms).
To complete the project, we sprayed the surface with white Rockfon elegant render to achieve a ceiling with 87% light reflection and 99% light diffusion. The finished ceiling has a 9.4 rating on the L value (ISO 7724).
We were appointed to carry out the works to a short deadline, so our team worked long hours to finish the job on time, to the highest standard. Samsung King's Cross certainly met their brief of a unique and visually beautiful space for people to browse, explore and communicate.
Our acoustic plaster solutions can transform any building, regardless of size and use. Contact us today to discuss our acoustic services in more detail.
