Specialist Acoustic Plaster, Hereford

Acoustics are crucial in every building's design - but they are even more so in public venues, where the high footfall can compromise the environment's ambience and cast a shadow over its livability.

However, every building's sound signature and design are unique, thus requiring specialist acoustic plasters to reduce reverberation time and absorb excessive noise. And this is even more true when it comes down to optimising the acoustics of historical and Graded buildings without impacting their historical character.

At Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics, we understand the impact of acoustics, and we have the experience to design and install tailored sound solutions for buildings of all types.

Grade I Listed buildings represent the historical and cultural heritage of our country. Renovation works such as the ones that have taken place to restore Hay Castle in Hay-On-Wye, Hereford, are essential to maintain the splendour and character of the building.

But now that the 12th-century castle is open to the public, acoustic plaster to manage reverberation is vital to refine the visitor experience, counteract the effects of large rooms and high ceilings, and boost the venue's functionalities.

At Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics, our team of acoustics specialists has taken on the challenge of designing and installing a 138m2 acoustic plaster across the ceilings in the castle's West and East Mansions.

The team overcame inherent challenges, such as the low temperatures in the rooms, which slowed the finishes' drying process, and installed a two-part Class A Rockfon Mono Acoustic System to absorb the white noise in excess and enhance the castle's ambience for visitors and curators alike.

At Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics, our team of acoustics specialists and sound engineers understand the impact that sounds can have in the restoration of historical buildings and have nearly 30 years of experience in designing and installing ad hoc acoustic plaster solutions for a multitude of venues.
