Project Description
Wates Drylining asked Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics to tender for installing a specialist acoustic spray within the sustainable, high-quality Lab space and office spaces to be created at Capital Park, Fulbourn, Cambridge, with the Principal contractor Wates Construction.
Capital Park, once complete, will be a specialised park that will focus on providing work areas for fast-growing businesses and a next-generation development to support the UK’s Innovation economy. The location is close to Cambridge's town centre, which is renowned worldwide for its innovation and university excellence.
The end user/developer Longfellow's real estate partners are experts in this field of providing excellence in science facilities, which adds to their 16 million square foot portfolio.
The Solution
Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics held numerous discussions with Wates Drylining, and it was agreed that 3232m2 of white Bo-spray would be supplied and installed across three of the buildings at Capital Park.
Bo-Spray, available in a range of different colours, is a water-based acoustical spray made of recycled cellulose. It is perfect for areas such as offices, swimming pools, restaurants, and other areas where large groups of people may gather, as it helps reduce echo and white noise. Bo-spray also looks great, meaning the aesthetics of the building do not need to be sacrificed when trying to achieve the desired noise control, making it perfect for projects such as Capital Park.
As all projects do, the project had its own unique challenges. Transporting specialist machinery and equipment between the three buildings was often a challenge due to busy roadways on the site. Careful planning and thinking ahead were essential to keeping the project flowing and keeping any downtime to a minimum.
