Project Description
Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics were invited by Macron Fit Out to tender for the seamless acoustic plaster installation at the new V&A East Museum. The project formed part of a landmark cultural development and required a high-quality acoustic solution befitting its prestigious setting.
The building was developed as a new branch of the renowned Victoria and Albert Museum, located within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London. Designed as a major addition to London's cultural landscape, the museum aimed to combine architectural excellence with outstanding visitor experience.
The development formed part of East Bank, a significant culture and education district established in East London. Spanning five floors and covering more than 7,000 square metres, the museum was designed to become a highly sought-after tourist attraction upon completion.
Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics' involvement focused on delivering a seamless acoustic plaster system that met both the aesthetic vision and the acoustic performance requirements of this flagship project.
The Solution:
Following close collaboration between Pacy & Wheatley Acoustics and Macron Fit Out, 67m² of Rockfon Mono Acoustic was installed to the walls of the film room in Gallery 2, significantly enhancing both the acoustic performance and overall atmosphere of the space.
Specifically developed to absorb sound and minimise echo, Rockfon Mono Acoustic has created a calm, well-balanced environment ideally suited to the room's purpose. By reducing background noise and limiting sound reverberation, the installation has improved clarity and delivered a more comfortable experience for visitors.
Aesthetics were equally important to the project. The seamless, contemporary finish integrates effortlessly with the gallery's interior design, achieving a refined, modern look without compromising on acoustic effectiveness.
Everybody at Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics who was involved thoroughly enjoyed working on the project. We hope to collaborate with Macron Fit Out again in the future!
