Project Description
Pacy and Wheatley Acoustics were appointed by 3 Interiors to design, supply, and install two bespoke acoustic solutions for Nela Restaurant. The scope of works included the application of Bowiq BoSpray acoustic treatment to the ground floor restaurant, alongside the installation of Rockfon Mono Acoustic within the private dining area located in the basement.
Nela Restaurant is situated within the former Whiteleys Department Store, an iconic Art Deco landmark that has been sensitively redeveloped into a vibrant restaurant setting. Nela, which was first founded in Amsterdam, offers a distinctive live fire dining experience, creating an energetic atmosphere that requires careful acoustic consideration to ensure guest comfort.
The Solution:
To address the acoustic demands of the main restaurant, over 300m² of Bowiq BoSpray was specified and installed. Bowiq BoSpray is a water-based cellulose acoustic spray manufactured from recycled materials, delivering excellent sound absorption performance. Available in a wide range of colours, it provides both functional acoustic control and design flexibility. The installation significantly reduces reverberation within the space, enhancing speech clarity and contributing to an improved dining experience.
For the more intimate private dining area, 41m² of Rockfon Mono Acoustic was installed. This solution was selected for its Class A acoustic performance, effectively controlling reverberation and absorbing unwanted noise. In addition to its technical benefits, Rockfon Mono Acoustic offers a refined, seamless finish that aligns with the project's architectural vision. Its smooth, monolithic appearance integrates seamlessly with the restaurant's elegant interior, complementing the high-quality finishes and design details.
