The Project
Pacy And Wheatley Acoustics were commissioned by London Architects Denton Corker Marshall to provide an Ambient Acoustic Plaster Solution for prestigious restaurant Dinner, by Heston Blumenthal, within the newly refurbished Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge.
Three ceiling areas were to be treated in the main dining area, private dining and Chef’s Table. Each had a different design and ambient requirement. The main dining room had many small coffer areas which were timber moulded. A tight programme period would compound the installation.
The Solution
The small coffer areas in the main dining room required a significant amount of hand finishing as the sanding machinery was too large. The pigmented plaster was carefully chosen to match the architect's colour specification delivering and enhanced visual perspective. The accomplished ambient noise reduction provides a relaxed environment for the diners.
Other trades works were behind programme; naturally, our acoustic installation teams worked out of hours to achieve the programme deadline. We also achieved zero defects.
